EDWIN jeans takes it history back to the year 1947, when a denim fanatic called MR Tsunemi decided that importing used denim from the USA was not ideal and with Japan having no facilities to manufacture their own denim, there was no other alternative.
In 1951 denim was first made in Japan but there was a problem, it was expensive and not of the same quality as the denim made in America.
In 1961 the first pair of EDWIN JEANS was made, this would be the first of many firsts for the Edwin Denim brand, many of their achievements would revolutionise the denim market and Edwin has proven itself to be one of the innovators in denim and without its input Denim would not have evolved and became the massive staple of society.
Edwin denim can lay claim to being a true innovator, in 1963 they produced a 16oz ringspun denim, a worls first. In the swinging 70s they produced the old wash jean, yet another first, and to top it all in the crazy 80s, they invent stonewashed denim, that is massive, the milstone that was in the history of Denim, cannot be underestimated, EDWIN JEANS invented stone washed denim, unbelievable.
SO there we go EDWIN denim lead all the others Levis, Evisu and such follow, from 1947 to 2009 Edwin have been at the forefront of denim, pushing the envelope and ensuring that Denim has evolved.
